Job Description:/h3:
We are hiring a Mechanical Engineer to join our team The individual in this position will provide compliance oversight support to a metrorail project team to facilitate the acceptance of the Project into the ARS. This support will be focused on verification and oversight of mechanical work, to include elevators, escalators, and Vehicle Shop Equipment for compliance with Contract requirements. This role serves primarily a field oversight function but requires substantial technical / administrative work.

Review mechanical systems submittals, including drawings, shop drawings, product submittals, factory test reports, test procedures, test plans, commissioning plans / procedures, and any other related documentation.
Ensure quality of mechanical systems construction, installation, and commissioning activities. Ensure that work is in conformance with agency standards, criteria, drawings, specifications, and approved test procedures.
Make frequent visits to site to audit and oversee mechanical systems construction, installation, and commissioning activities. Prepare field report of each visit and document observed work and any deficiencies identified.
Observes work operations for compliance with applicable safety regulations; is alert for unsafe practices, and where appropriate, requests their correction by the contractors representative on site.
Help ensure all mechanical system and subsystem interfaces are identified and tested during integrated testing or during System Performance Demonstration (SPD). Help develop a plan and schedule for SPD execution.
Participate in quality audits and follow up on nonconformances to make sure root cause is identified and corrective actions to prevent recurrence are implemented.
Support System acceptance and project closeout.
Perform field inspections to verify completion of mechanical systems punchlist, deficiencies, and/or warranty work. Track all open deficiencies to closure.
Review O and M manuals for mechanical systems equipment.

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent business and technical writing
Ten years of relevant professional experience is desired in the fields of engineering, installation, and commissioning of facility mechanical systems. Facility mechanical systems include: HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, building control systems, escalators, elevators, material lifts, specialized vehicle maintenance equipment, and associated appurtenances. Maintenance experience may be considered towards some of this requirement.
Strong knowledge of applicable worksite Safety Regulations; demonstrated commitment to safe working practices
Computer skills, to include word processor software, spreadsheets, and construction document management systems
Other desired qualifications include: PE certification, Commissioning certification (ASHRAE), CPE Certification, PMP Certification, USACE/NAVFAC CQM Certification, LEED AP, etc.
