Position Description
The Director of Operations is mission:driven and responsible for day:to:day operational leadership of a 5 million non:profit (501c3) Federally Qualified Health Center serving 10,000 patients annually with 26,000 doctor visits and growing annually. The Director of Operations is a member of the Senior Leadership Group and acts independently and in team:settings to provide research, writing, and analysis on a wide range of health care policies, procedures, and budget matters to ensure superior patient care, effective communication and collaboration among 50+ staff, and decision:support for the Board of Directors. This person will serve as the administrative liaison to patients, families, staff, vendors, and stakeholders.
This person will also identify, determine eligibility, and write grant applications seeking funding from individuals, businesses, foundations, and local, state, and federal governments. This person will serve as the grant administrator and be responsible for tracking the Centers compliance with grant requirements with the assistance of Practice Directors. This person has primary, but not exclusive, responsibility for grant writing. This person manages contracted grant writers and works with Finance to develop and track grant budgets.
This person demonstrates independent judgment, integrity, and self:sufficiency in effective problem:solving while serving as an administrative and operational resource for the Center. This person has a Bachelors or Masters Degree with a minimum of five years of operations and fundraising experience in a non:profit organization. The person possesses extensive interpersonal, communication, and team player skills and excels in the constant change associated with a rapidly expanding and complex health care organization. The person exhibits mature behavior and judgment and always maintains a can do attitude.
The person has health care operational experience and skill sets, e.g., problem:solving, project management, that will contribute to the success of a rapidly expanding Federally Qualified Health Center. This person has a functioning knowledge of the organizations relationship to local, state, and Federal government agencies, other non:profit organizations, and the private sector. The person should clearly understand and be able to communicate to all community stakeholders the role of the Center in the health care service continuum.
This person has a full understanding of the Centers technology systems (electronic health records, computerized patient check:in, patient portal, Intranet, telephone system, etc.) and directly supervises the Operations Manager who will troubleshoot simple tasks and activates vendors when necessary on a 24/7 basis. Technology is viewed as an enabling resource and is used in driving greater staff productivity, employee morale, patient satisfaction, and patient health outcomes.

Essential Functions
:
Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director when delegated. Serves on the Senior Leadership Group and is responsible for the agenda, minutes, and data:driven decision:making by the Team. Must demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to the Centers mission and vision.

Assists the Executive Director in the development and administration of policies, plans, programs, procedures, and grant applications that further the Centers Strategic Plan and program goals. This person will assist in the development, update, and implementation of the Board of Directors Strategic Program Plan.

Supervises and mentors staff, including the Operations Manager, Call Center Supervisor and Outreach and Enrollment Supervisor. Indirectly supervises 3 Office Managers and 8:12 Front Desk personnel. This position requires prior experience supervising and disciplining personnel.
