HCA Capital Division is comprised of 18 hospital campuses across 4 states. GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES – This position is the key division resource that drives the strategic and operational agenda for Clinical Informatics, ensuring integration with Corporate CSG, Division Clinical Operations and Division IT&S. Reports To: Division VP Quality
Scope: All Capital Division Hospitals
GENERAL DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Manage and coordinate clinical informatics initiatives within Capital Division Hospitals in pursuit of both HCA & Capital Division Clinical Services objectives across the continuum of care (i.e. inpatient, emergency department, ambulatory, etc.) In conjunction with Capital Division DVPQ and CMO, manage division-level programs to ensure federal and state program requirements for electronic health record incentive and payment programs are met. Work with hospital Director of Advanced Clinicals (DACs) and their associated Physicians to ensure understanding, interpretation, and application of “Meaningful Use” guidelines in the hospital. Work with Capital Division and hospital clinical leadership to develop and implement education/development activities with a focus on clinical informatics initiatives as they relate to quality, patient safety, date utilization, continuous improvement, best practices, reporting requirement and regulatory/compliance. Participate in the analysis of Capital Division hospitals’ clinical performance, to include outcomes measures, quality and patient safety, clinical risk management, root cause analysis, with a focus on improvement opportunities, and prioritization within the framework of HCA’s enterprise clinical systems. Provide consultative and resource support to Division and Hospital staff as appropriate (quality, risk, infection prevention, nursing, etc.) in an effort to leverage learning and resources across the division Interface with Corporate Clinical Services Group to implement programs, tools and methodologies, and drive participation in HCA clinical work teams and initiatives Interface with Division IT&S to ensure standardization and compliance with best practice models, specifically as it relates to the integrity of the electronic health record. With the DVPQ, represent the Division and Division Hospitals in providing input on clinical initiatives and resulting performance goals Work with the Division Hospitals to drive improvement on publicly-reported measures, regulatory alignment, risk measures, clinical metric reporting, and other HCA endorsed programs (Leapfrog, NCDR/STS, etc.) Configure and manage inter- and intra- Hospital improvement initiatives and work teams, and coordinate Division involvement in support of same Serves as liaison across Hospitals, Division and Corporate clinical informatics councils to facilitate and implement best practice models as related to enterprise initiatives. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Able to configure and manage implementation of wide-reaching clinical programs with a patient centered perspective Analytical capability, with both a process and data orientation Expert knowledge of clinical systems that support operational efficiencies as it relates to clinical informatics enterprise initiatives. Ability to visualize and work at a process-level across functions, locations, services, resource groups Capable of managing and influencing behavior across multiple organizational levels and professional backgrounds Ability to manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary groups Excellent verbal and written communication skills Good understanding of clinical technology, clinical IT systems, data management, business drivers and their relationships to quality and clinical delivery Strong manager who is approachable, adaptable and has strong collaborative management style, a creative thinker with high energy and enthusiasm, and a team player who promotes the concepts of people in consensus versus individual performance.
