Job Description Program Facilitator Under the direction of the Special Education teacher assist the students with carrying out lesson plans activities Collect behavioral data based on each students Individualized Education Plan IEP and Behavioral Intervention Plan BIP Assist the student with physical tasks such as using the restroom hand washing daily living etc Process with the staff and provide information data regarding student progress and performance Carry out behavioral strategies including crisis intervention in accordance with student s EIP BIP and APTS policies during school hours transport and in the community Establish and maintain appropriate interactions with students at all times Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the school Assist with transportation of students between school and home door to door and during community based instruction Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities Ability to read a variety of manuals write documents following prescribed formats and or present information to others and understand complex multi step written and oral instructions Knowledge of basic math grammar and punctuation stages of child development and learning styles and age appropriate activities Ability to operate equipment including using pertinent software applications and preparing and maintaining accurate records Ability to schedule activities collate data and use basic job related equipment Ability to work with data utilizing defined but different processes and operate equipment using standardized methods Ability to work with constant interruptions and maintain a calm and positive demeanor Must possess the ability to be flexible communicate with diverse groups maintain confidentiality set priorities work as part of a team Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk sit use hand to finger handle or feel objects tool and student supplies reach with hands and arms climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl see talk and hear The employee frequently is required to stand and occasionally to run The employee must be able to provide physical crisis management The employee will occasionally lift and or move pounds or more with or without assistance Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Behavior Analysis or Human Services related field from an accredited college or university or more years of active military service may be considered in lieu of a completed year degree OR Associates Degree in Behavior Analysis or Human Services related field with years relevant work experience OR High school diploma or equivalent with years work experience in Applied Behavior Analysis or a related field Benefits hour with HS diploma or equivalent and years relevant work experience hour with year degree and years relevant work experience hour with year degree or years active duty US Military Service hour with a Masters Degree One of the fastest growing alternative schools for students with disabilities in our area Opportunities for advancement within the organization A stepping stone into other areas of education Annual professional development for approved programs k with up to APTS contribution after yr tenure Employer Paid Insurance Plans Medical Cigna Short term Long term Life Insurance Vision Dental insurance offered Discounted Gym Memberships Robust Vacation Schedule personal leave days days of school breaks holidays snow bank days Company Description APTS or Alternative Paths Training School is a private non profit educational vocational and behavioral consultation program for students and adults with developmental and other disabilities Our school based program serves students from counties aged at campuses in Alexandria Manassas and Fredericksburg VA and we provide consultation services throughout Virginia and Maryland
