The Staff Accountant shall assist in supporting QFI’s mission, programs, and activities in the Operations Department. The Staff Accountant is responsible for full charge bookkeeping as well as the preparing and posting of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, preparing appropriate financial reports and statements, fixed asset management and managing the accounts payable and accounts receivable process. This is a one-person department that requires a person knowledgeable of all areas of the accounting process.

Enter all payables/bills into INTAACT, prepare wire transfers, ACH, check disbursements;
Manage the month-end process to include preparing and posting general journal entries;
Responsible for tracking and maintaining record of various revenue and expense accounts;
Assist with other ongoing functions such as the bank reconciliations, preparing deposit slips, providing monthly financial statements and reports, and completing state and local reports;
Suggest updates for the financial policies and procedures;
Update financial forms as needed;
Manage time and attendance as well as serve as the processor for the semi-monthly payroll;
Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities;
Upload the grant budgets and grant transactions in the grants database
Support the Senior Director with special projects and reports on an as needed basis;
Maintain and update the fixed assets, and depreciation worksheet and work with other departments to implement a fixed asset tracking system;
Assist with expense report review and processing (including credit card expenses);
Assist with various internal and external audits (including financial audit preparation); and
Complete miscellaneous projects and analysis as requested.
Other Duties as Assigned.
Supervise an Accounting Intern, if applicable.

Position is mainly sedentary and requires extended periods of computer use. Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a minimum of 4 years of experience in a not for profit environment. CPA is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

Understanding of general accepted accounting principles.
Must be able to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Accuracy and attention to detail are required.
Highly skilled with the Microsoft Office suite of products - primarily Excel.
Experience working with INTACCT software is a plus.
